Our final packet return will be on Thursday, May 14 from 9 am – 1 pm. If you cannot make it to your child’s school during this time, please contact the school to arrange to drop off all completed work prior to this date. No student work will be accepted after 1 pm on Thursday, May 14. This will also be parents last opportunity to pick up any medications that are at the school. If your child’s medications are not picked up by 1 pm on Thursday, May 14, the school nurse will properly dispose of these medications.
We recommend your child continue to read and explore their interests through projects or research over the summer. Everyone with the school district would like to thank you all for your continued support and cooperation during this time. We miss our students and families and look forward to when we can see you all again.
Packet #3 pickup will be held at your child’s school on May 4 from 1 pm to 4 pm and on May 5 from 9am – 1 pm. If you have not returned packets 1 and 2, or if your child has medication to be picked up, please do so at this time. Medications must be picked up and signed for by an adult, preferably by a parent/guardian. Medications not picked up will be destroyed by the school nurse. Fundraiser materials will also be given out. Packet 3 and any other packets not previously returned will be due on May 14. Packets turned in after May 14 will not be accepted. Students are asked to return all textbooks and library books on May 4, May 5, or May 14. We again want to thank all of you for what you are doing for our students and encourage you all to continue to wash your hands and practice social distancing.
If your phone number or address has changed since school has been out, please contact the school to notify them. Office hours are 9:00 AM-1:00 PM Monday through Thursday. Stay safe. Stay well. #rebelproud
In an effort to assess internet capabilities within our district, we are asking that all parents complete the following survey by Tuesday, April 14. Internet is defined as ability to use a desktop, laptop, or tablet at home. For the purpose of this survey, access to internet solely through a smart phone is NOT considered internet access. Please complete a separate survey for each child who attends a school in Newberry County. Even if you previously completed a survey through your school, please take a moment to provide the information requested at https://bit.ly/SDNCInternetSurvey
As we continue to receive updated information about our schools, we want to keep all of our families informed. Yesterday, the Governor issued an extension to the school closure through April 30. Our schools and offices will remain closed per the Governor’s order. Our meal pickup and delivery will continue tomorrow. We are asking families to hold up a sign or fingers to indicate how many children need meals. If possible, we would prefer to place the meals in the trunk of the cars to reduce the chance of exposure. If the trunk is not an option, please roll down a window. No one will need to get out of the car for this service. We thank you all for your continued support and encourage all of you to frequently wash your hands and maintain appropriate social distancing.
Do you need your school counselor while you are out? Please call Dixon's Counselor Contact at 803-597-1399. Ms. Coffman is currently unavailable but will release hers by next week. Everyone can use Mrs. Dixon until then if needed. Directions: Student leaves their name and short message, and the Counselor will either call them back immediately, if able, or return their call soon after. The Counselor is able to also text them back to let them know the message is received it and they will call soon.Students are also able to text a message to that number. If they text, they need to identify themselves as we will not know otherwise. For emergencies late at night, call the hotline at 1-800-273-8255 (1/800/TALK)
MCMS Parents: If you have not already done so, please take a moment to complete this survey on remote learning activities.

With the Governor’s proclamation for closing schools, the School District of Newberry County will not have school through March 31. Students and families are asked to continue to practice good hygiene by washing hands and also maintain social distancing by staying six feet away from others. We will be sending out information about meals being provided to students, including locations to pick up breakfast and lunch in the near future. We will also provide information regarding student assignments to be completed during the closing. Additional details will be provided soon.
