Happy School Nurses Day!
Each student in the School District of Newberry County will have the opportunity to use their school-issued device over the summer. All devices will be checked by staff before collection or distribution for summer take home. Parents who prefer their children to use their devices over the summer, must sign and return this form to their child’s homeroom or first period teacher by Friday, May 17, 2024. Parents who do not wish for their child to use the school issued device over the summer do not need to take any further action, as devices will be collected in May and kept at the school over the summer.

Happy School Principals' Day!
A reminder that students have SC Ready testing tomorrow May 1st, Thursday, May 2nd, and Friday, May 3rd this week. Next week everyone tests on May 8th and ONLY 6th grade on May 9th. Please make sure they get plenty of rest and arrive on time for testing days. Any tests that they miss will have to be made up before we get out for summer break.
Happy Administrative Professionals Day!
The 8th Grade Visual Art II classes designed a mural based on self-love. The students identified self-love as the most important mantra that middle schoolers need to hear. The design will include a flower that each student will create to represent themselves and a variety of other flowers to represent all of the different personalities that fill our school. The message of the mural is "Everyone is a unique flower and all together we make a beautiful garden." Students began prepping the wall this week.
MCMS would like to thank Ms. Kris Abell from DHEC for her “Action for a Cleaner Tomorrow” presentation to our 7th grade science classes. Students learned how humans affect Earth’s resources and the environment. Ms. Abell also discussed steps everyone can take to help conserve resources by reducing, reusing, and recycling.
April is Poetry Month, and Mid Carolina celebrated Poem in Your Pocket Day today. Students and staff carried poems around with them and shared these poems with others. In Ms. Richardson's class, students wrote poems and gave each other positive feedback. Do you have a favorite poem to share with someone today?
MCHS will be hosting a Mass Physical day on April the 20th. This is open to all 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. All physicals must be dated after April 1st of this year, in order to participate in summer conditioning and workouts. The cost is $25 and all exams will be administered by licensed professionals. Information/forms can be picked up in the middle school main office and please return all forms and payment to Coach Meetze by April the 17th. Please email dmeetze@sdnc.org if you have any questions. GO REBELS!
