Newberry Community Players are hosting TWO SUMMER CAMPS this year! Ages and dates are listed below. It is a week intensive program that teaches children the ins and outs of theatre: set design, make-up, prop building, costume designing, etc. They will also be working on a short production which they will perform at their showcase at the end of the week. It is $40.00 per child (this includes materials, lunch, and a t-shirt for the week). They can sign up their child by accessing Newberry Community Players page on Facebook and they can pay for their slot by going to https://newberry-community-players.square.site/ and choose the option for their child/student.
This is a great opportunity but there are limited slots.
The Newberry Opera House Newberry Arts for All program presents its STEAM Astronaut Camp Scholarship for current Newberry County School District rising 3rd through 9th grade students. More information can be found @ https://5il.co/19ahq

MID-CAROLINA VARSITY COMPETITIVE CHEER INTEREST MEETING MARCH 31
We would like to welcome Megan Arcovio to the Mid-Carolina Rebels family as our new Head Cheerleading Coach. Megan comes to us from Lexington School District One, where she has been a member of the coaching staff at Lexington Middle School and most recently at River Bluff High School. At River Bluff, Megan Was the Head Coach for the River Bluff Junior Varsity Competition team. Through the adversity of 2020, she led her team to an undefeated cheer season. In 2021, her team won the Debbie Rogers Cheer Classic with a score over 300. We look forward to having her here for an exciting 2022-2023 year.
Middle School cheerleaders will meet during their lunch period on March 31 in room 315 on the MCMS main hall (8th Grade – 10:35 AM, 6th Grade – 11:40 AM, 7th Grade – 12:25 PM).

Update to our Athletic Awards Ceremony: Athletes will receive four tickets for their families to attend. Date (March 17) and time (5:30 p.m.) are still the same.

Mrs. Deedee Westwood, principal of Mid-Carolina Middle School, was named a finalist for the Distinguished Administrator of Literacy award for the Palmetto State Literacy Association (PSLA). This past weekend, Mrs. Westwood attended the PSLA conference in Hilton Head, SC along with hundreds of other administrators and educators. Mrs. Westwood represented to County of Newberry and received finalist for her dedication to literacy in and out of the classroom. We are Rebel Proud!
