Congratulations to Ms. Harley Moody on being named MCMS Teacher of the Month for March. Ms. Moody teaches 6th and 8th grade math. Her peers state that she is always positive, fills in where ever she is needed, and always goes above and beyond. MID-CAROLINA VARSITY COMPETITIVE CHEER INTEREST MEETING MARCH 31
We would like to welcome Megan Arcovio to the Mid-Carolina Rebels family as our new Head Cheerleading Coach. Megan comes to us from Lexington School District One, where she has been a member of the coaching staff at Lexington Middle School and most recently at River Bluff High School. At River Bluff, Megan Was the Head Coach for the River Bluff Junior Varsity Competition team. Through the adversity of 2020, she led her team to an undefeated cheer season. In 2021, her team won the Debbie Rogers Cheer Classic with a score over 300. We look forward to having her here for an exciting 2022-2023 year.
Middle School cheerleaders will meet during their lunch period on March 31 in room 315 on the MCMS main hall (8th Grade – 10:35 AM, 6th Grade – 11:40 AM, 7th Grade – 12:25 PM).

Teacher of the Month: Congratulations to Mrs. Stacey Templin on being named Teacher of the Month. Mrs. Templin is the MCMS Media Specialist. Her peers stated that she is always willing to take the extra step in the classroom and to ensure that each student is a Rebel Reader. Support Staff of the Month: Congratulations to Mrs. Missy Whitley on being named Support Staff of the Month. Mrs. Whitley is an instructional assistant. Her peers stated that she always has a smile on her face and is always there to help anyone who needs it. We are Rebel Proud of Mrs. Whitley for exemplifying the mindset Passion First.

Mrs. Deedee Westwood, principal of Mid-Carolina Middle School, was named a finalist for the Distinguished Administrator of Literacy award for the Palmetto State Literacy Association (PSLA). This past weekend, Mrs. Westwood attended the PSLA conference in Hilton Head, SC along with hundreds of other administrators and educators. Mrs. Westwood represented to County of Newberry and received finalist for her dedication to literacy in and out of the classroom. We are Rebel Proud!

Help us celebrate 2/22/22!

The Athletic Awards Ceremony will be held March 17th at 5:30 in the big gym. All athletes will receive two tickets for their families to attend. Sports will include football, volleyball, Rebelettes, cheerleading, and boys and girls basketball. Food will not be served.

MCMS along with Jennifer Moore, Career Development Facilitator for the School District, discuss the various programs the School District of Newberry County has to offer students to prepare them for College and Career Readiness.
